25-hundred real moms and their kids to find out which Mother’s Day gifts are truly terrible, and what moms actually want instead. The survey also finds that more than half (52%) admit they’ve forgotten Mother’s Day before. To make it right at the last-minute, 35% gave cash and 31% offered a big hug, while 19% had a long, heartfelt talk on the phone and 16% created handmade IOU cards.
According to the survey, these are worst Mother’s Day gifts:
- Weight loss products (30%)
- Cleaning supplies (26%)
- “How to” cookbooks (14%)
- Unsolicited self-help books (12%)
- Leftover holiday candy (7%)
- Gas station flowers (5%)
- Homemade coupon books (3%)
- Gift cards to stores YOU like (2%)
So, what do moms actually want for Mother’s Day?
- Handmade gifts (27.5%)
- Special experiences (21%)
- Handwritten letters or cards (16%)
- A day off from responsibilities (10%)
