Betty, has worked at Eat’n Park in Ross Township, Pennsylvania, since the 1900's.
Last week, Tamie Konzier and her son Leo visited the restaurant. Tamie tells CBS News; "She was a great waitress, she remembered all our orders, very nice, super friendly, funny, a great waitress,"
Tamie overheard another customer ask Betty why she was still working and Betty said because Social Security wasn’t enough to cover her expenses. Tammie started thinking about her Grandmother who is about the same ageas Betty and what if she had to stand on her feet all day working.
She was so moved that she left a hundred dollar tip on a $45 dollar bill and then decided to share Betty’s story on social media.
The video quickly went viral, prompting Tamie to launch a crowdfund page which as of this morning has raised $317,000! Tamie called Betty to tell her about it over the weekend when the fund was at $140,000. You can hear her amazement below.
