Boy Who Spent 17 Years In Foster Care Is Finally Adopted

Jose entered foster care as an infant after suffering severe brain damage from shaken baby syndrome. He is mostly paralyzed, verbally and visually impaired, and requires a feeding tube. Channel 4 KARK-TV reports that 17-year-old Jose, is now the longest-waiting child in Arkansas’ foster care system. He explained how heartbroken he has been for years that no one wanted him in their family.

Jose’s life changed when Dr Mary Zhang began working with him. She then began visiting him. Then she brought her husband, Patrick to meet Jose. Patrick & Mary felt a connection after spending time with him. Mary said to her husband “I really want this sweet boy to be a part of our family." Patrick said, “Let’s do it.”

Under oath, the couple committed to being Jose’s family forever. "Whatever he needs we want to give it to him"!

After years of waiting, Jose doesn’t have to face life alone anymore. The Ninth West Judicial Circuit Court and Arkansas Department of Human Services conference room were filled with cheering and tears as a judge declared his adoption final.
