Mom's Unique Solution To Get Her Kids To Eat Healthier

Melanie Cade had it with her kids eating junk food. The Alabama mother of NINE kids’ ranging in age from 19 years to 10 months had an idea.

"When we go to restaurants that had salad bars they all seemed to love it.

So Melanie and her husband bought a $13-hundred salad bar from a restaurant supply store during the pandemic. Melanie says that during quarantine “I saw my kids developing bad habits that were convenient and easy for both them and myself. Something had to change to save my family from a life diabetes and high blood pressure".

It worked! "We all have been eating healthier because the salad bar is even easier than a microwavable meal."

Not only is raising 9 kids but they're all homeschooled as well so she has an unbelievable life which she also documents on social media. She discusses the hacks she uses to take care of her massive family

  • Cade stocks the refrigerated salad bar with seasonal veggies and healthy fats, like hard boiled eggs, sliced turkey and cheese.
  • The bottom part of the salad bar, which is also refrigerated, is full of bagels, cream cheese, fruit, juice boxes and salad dressing.
  • She spends about $100 a week on the food for it and says the trick is making the food look pretty, so if it looks good to the kiddos, they’re more likely to eat it.
  • While this mama admits, “I am a little extra,” her kids are benefiting and she always has a quick meal option ready to go.
