This Dog Desperately Wants To Love Those In A Nursing Home

Back in 2017, a mixed breed dog named Scout broke out of the Antrim County Animal Shelter in Michigan. He made his way to a local nursing home and plopped on the sofa in the lobby. Scout did that two more times and then the staff at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility decided to adopt him. After all, Scout chose them.

Meadow Brook Administrator Marna Robertson says "He did that one time, two times, three times, and obviously that's something that you should pay attention to. And I asked the staff, 'Well, he wants to be here. Would anybody like to have a dog?'"

The doggo lives at the center and roams freely. He’s even learned to open doors himself. Scout is the perfect support pup. Robertson says “he knows when people are sick or you know not doing well and he will go in and lay with them and give them comfort,” and adds "He certainly has a penchant for the elders. If they have dementia or if they're dying he knows that, and he will go and be with them and comfort them. He must've just felt like he needed to be here."

Scout’s origin is a mystery, they just know he was abused at some point. He’s certainly found the perfect home.
