He Spent His 16th Birthday Delivering Care Packages To The Needy

With his 16th birthday approaching, Manhattan, New York, teen Nick Kelly wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. He felt fortunate to have so many people in his life to help him celebrate the milestone that he was reminded of “all those people that are in this world alone without someone to care for them,” and he wanted to do something special for them.

"Basically what I wanted to do is, instead of celebrating myself, I just had this idea,” Nick says. “I decided to feed the homeless and give out care packages and stuff like that." So the teen created a GoFundMe page to raise money so he could put together care packages of necessities, food, and maybe some money to give out to those in need.

With the help of over 70 donors, Nick was able to exceed his $25-hundred goal. Then earlier this week on his 16th birthday, he spent the day in Manhattan distributing care packages to the area’s homeless residents. The packages included emergency blankets, toiletries, sanitizing wipes, and other needed items.

In an update to the crowdfunding page, Nick thanks all the people who helped him, saying “You all are a part of this mission.” He hopes his effort will encourage other kids to help the less fortunate.
