Caleb Pressley of "Barstool Sports" fame was on Theo Von's "This Past Weekend" podcast recently when he revealed that he and Luke Combs were not only from the same high school - they were football teammates. Since they both rode the bench, the two became friends - and stayed friends as Caleb went on to quarterback at North Carolina, and Luke attended Appalachian State and started his music career.
As Caleb tells it, when he was 21 he came into some money - between 40K-50K - and not wanting to blow it, he reached out to Luke and told him he was thinking about investing in his friend's career - and can he hear some tunes? Luke was thrilled to hear it, sent him three songs - and Caleb was unimpressed, so the business partnership was over before it started.
Fast forward several years, and Caleb went back and found the original emails where Luke had sent him the songs - the songs Caleb turned down, and realized: all three songs were the first three songs Luke took to the top of the country charts! "What if I got, like, 10% of his career earnings? I wouldn't be here, I know that!"
