Woman Walking To Work Finds A Bag With 15K. Her Life Was Changed By It

Fox 2 Detroit reports that a 65 year old grandmother named Dianne Gordon works at a grocery store about 2.5 miles from her house. About a year ago her car died and she doesn't have the money to replace it. So she has been walking 5 miles round trip five days a week in all kinds of weather. She stopped into a BP station to use the restroom and on the way in saw what she thought was a plastic bag of trash near the front door. She was going to pick it up and throw it away, but realized it was a lot heavier than she anticipated. She looked in and it was stacks of cash.

Of course she could use the money and no one would know if she walked off with it, but she called the cops. “It never really crossed my mind to do anything other than turn it over. It wasn't mine.”

When officer Lt. Matthew Ivory took in the $14,780 and heard Dianne's story he was moved. "She is an amazing person who needed a break". So he and some fellow officers set up a go fund me explaining her situation.

As of this morning $78,396 has been raised and she was donated a 2019 green Jeep Compass.

This has become a total life changer for Dianne.

“My grandson is 13 and he plays hockey. And my granddaughter is 11 and she does gymnastics, and I haven’t seen her play or do gymnastics yet. So that’s going to be very important that I get to see her do that. It means the world to me. I miss them so much.”
