UofSC Receives Major Hootie Donation

The University of South Carolina has just been gifted a boatload of memorabilia of the band Hootie & The Blowfish, who got their start at the school.

Fan Rick Noble donated his collection to the school, which includes everything from ticket stubs, T-shirts, an autographed guitar and more. He has been collecting memorabilia of the band since 1993, prior to them releasing their debut album “Cracked Rear View.”

“The story of Hootie and Blowfish is forever entwined with the University of South Carolina – it’s one of the exciting pieces of our modern history,” Interim President Harris Pastides shares. “Rick’s collection will help capture that story and preserve it for future generations. We are so grateful for his foresight, dedication and generosity in sharing a gift that increases the stature of the University Libraries’ music collections.”

And fans will be able to check out the memorabilia eventually. After library staff completes organizing, appraising and preserving the items a public viewing will be announced.
