Jimmy Jennings says he had been caught in a traffic jam for more than two hours after a multi-car collision on Interstate 10 in Louisiana. So he decided to jump into the alligator-infested Atchafalaya River below the road. He says he had trouble swimming and “truly thought it was the end of my time.” He even admits he “asked God for forgiveness” and “forgave everyone in my life.” He adds he thought he would simply jump into the river and swim quickly back to shore and jump right back into his friend’s car. He was charged with criminal mischief and criminal trespassing and has vowed to never do anything similar again.
