Jaxson Demsey is only eight years old, but he saved his little sister when she was choking on a chicken nugget as their dad was driving. The boy from Hazleton, Pennsylvania, saw what was happening with 20-month-old Lelia and remained calm, telling their dad to pull over.
That’s when Jaxson was able to dislodge the nugget got out and saved her life! So how did this kid know what to do in this situation? He says he learned it on a TV show, “The Substitutes,” on Nickelodeon. “In the very first episode, John Cena was on it, and in the last part, he showed how to save someone when they’re choking,” Jaxson explains.
Their father, Matt, says he’s not shocked that his son stepped in to save his daughter. “He amazes us every day,” he explains. “We’re simply blessed to have the child that he is, the things that he does for his family, his friends, his little sister. He’s a good big brother.”
“I want to commend you because the actions of a true hero are those who act in a time of crisis,” he says. “Usually when bad things happen, one of the toughest things for all of us to do is to take action. You jumped right in and helped out the best you could, doing so you saved your sister's life. I really want to say thank you for being you Jaxson.”
