A Texas woman named Tobey King has a passion for feeding the elderly and crocheting. So she crocheted a doll that looks just like the bundled-up Bernie Sanders for charity. "I knew Bernie was trending because of that picture, and I already had a Bernie pattern and a Bernie doll. So I just went and got that, and I modified that super quick. I thought because of the viral nature of that photo we may be able to get $500 for a doll”
It took about 7 hours to create. The 46-year-old then posted photos of the nine-inch doll to her Instagram account, where it got thousands of likes and comments.
She posted it on eBay, where it sold for a lot more than the $500 she had hoped for. $20,300 was raised with all of the money going to Meals On Wheels!
