Worlds Largest Fish Caught In SC Lake!

Oak Grove Lake is located off of Roper Mountain Road in Greenville SC. According to Ty Houck, with Greenville County Parks, Recreation & Tourism tells WYFF that there is a 9 pound goldfish in the pond. 9 pounds! They know that there is a 9 pound goldfish there because they just released it into the lake.

What happened was they hired a company to update their 10 year old pond management study and the company was “electrofishing” which stuns the fish, and causes them to float to the surface so they can measure and study the fish population.

They tweeted out a photo of the knocked out fish and it's amazing to think it's same as the goldfish you see in the tank of your kids room!

Is it the worlds largest? I don't know as the record goes by length not weight. I'd say this one is pretty close though as the record holder is 18.7 inches long.

Even though the goldfish is not native to our area, it doesn't pose any threats so it was released back into Oak Grove Lake
