The Most & Least Common Birthdays In America

Austin, Texas business intelligence developer Bo McCready used his recent 32nd birthday as an excuse to figure out which are the most and leas popular birthdays in America. He shared his findings in a chart on Reddit, based on Social Security data on birthdays from 2000 to 2014.

According to his chart, Christmas Day is the least common birthday, followed by New Year’s Day, and Christmas Eve and the 4th of July. He also notes that folks seem to be superstitious because there appears to be fewer birthdays on the 13th of each month, as compared to the 12th and 14th. Not surprising, September 11th is noticeably lower than birthdays around it like.

And while the holiday season may not be popular to have babies, is apparently a good time to make babies, with September 12th, 19th and 20th the three most common birthdays in the U.S.

And apparently vacation time may also play a role in when women give birth. Many folks on Reddit noticed lower birthrates at the beginning of September and end of Thanksgiving, suggesting folks may hold off scheduling births around Labor Day and Thanksgiving vacations.

So this is breaking news to me. Women have some say on which day their baby is born? How did you pick the day? We'll talk about it just after 7 on Monday morning.
