Mary Kay LaTourneau has died at 58.
LaTourneau’s rise to infamy began in 1997– when she plead guilty to two felony counts of child rape over the sexual relationship with her then 12-year-old student,Vili Fualaau. While awaiting sentencing, she gave birth to their first child.
After getting busted with him again while on parole, she went back to the clink and stayed there for six years – giving birth to their second child six-months in. After Letourneau was released from prison in 2004, the two got married, but the tumultuous relationship finally ended in divorce last year.
Fualaau did not comment on LaTourneau’s passing at press time, but in recent months,was also said to be looking at moving forward with his life– and finally dealing with the trauma he experienced as a child. "It was a f---ed up start to their relationship," says an insider. "But now he's starting to get some perspective. He sees things clearly now, and realizes that this wasn't a healthy relationship from the start."
