Clemson is a small community. The 2010 census has about 13,000 residents living there. When college is in session the town about triples with an additional 25,000 students plus 3,000 staffers. And yet this tiny town is becoming a hot spot for COVID 19. The University announced Friday that 23 football players and 2 staff members had tested positive for Coronavirus. Then yesterday the university announced that they are finding a lot more traces of COVID-19 in wastewater. They were testing wastewater coming into the Cochran Road Wastewater Treatment Plant. Initial results indicate the presence of elevated COVID-19 levels in the community. That leads them to believe that there are lots more people in the Clemson area who have the virus than are aware that they have it. They are urging all citizens to get tested and to use the utmost in precaution if you are visiting the area.
