After seeing the damage from protests in his hometown of Buffalo, New York last weekend, one teenager got busy cleaning up. Instead of waiting for an organized crew to remove glass and garbage from the streets, Antonio Gwynn Jr. started cleaning up Bailey Ave after the riots ended at 2am Monday and kept going till Noon! When a group of neighbors arrived later that morning to pitch in, they found he’d already done most of the cleaning all by himself!
And when the community heard about the 18-year-old high school senior’s hard work, they stepped up to reward him. Matt Block saw a story about Antonio on the local news WKBW TV 7, and decided to give him his prized 2004 convertible red Mustang!
Antonio was blown away! Especially because his mother, who passed away when he was 16 used to drive the same car. Bob Briceland an insurance agent offered to pay his auto insurance for a year to go with it. "I just felt compelled to help him out. We just need to get together our whole city and show people how there's so many good people here".
Then Medaille College in Buffalo heard that he had wanted to go to college, but was unable to get funding so they gave him a full scholarship and now he will be studying business there in the fall. "When they called me I literally stopped, pulled over, and started crying. So did my great aunt. My little cousin did also. Buffalo is a wonderful city and I wish everyone could see that".
