Josh Pieters and Archie Manners were wondering if they could prank celebrities into thinking they’re on late-night TV shows simply by playing old clips of their shows, and according to their three-day video series, the answer is yes. They started by trickingGRAMMY-award winner Craig David and TikTok star Holly H into thinking they were talking to James Corden on “The Late Late Show”... but now they’ve taken it to the next level.
They managed to convince Carole Baskin from "Tiger King" to her first interview since the equally popular and controversial Netflix documentary aired by pretending to be Jimmy Fallon from “The Tonight Show.” During the fake interview, she revealed that she’s “had to let go about half of our staff” due to the crisis and that she’s still there with some volunteers to “work double-time” to care for the 55 exotic cats at the sanctuary. She also said that “after COVID-19, I just don’t know if we’re ever going to be able to do tours again.”
To her credit, Baskin has come out since the video was released to say she actually thought the prank was really funny. In a real interview, she said “I was suspicious as we were doing it because the questions appeared taped [...] It gave us a very welcome good laugh. I appreciate their cleverness and that they created their video in a way that I don’t feel was in any way mean-spirited.
