CBS News says it made a “mistake” in using the wrong footage for a story about New York City’s coronavirus crisis.
The network news coverage aired footage of an overcrowded hospital, while discussing challenges that New York medical facilities are facing during the COVID 19. It turns out, the clip was from a hospital in Italy and had been aired on Sky News days before.
A spokesman says "It was an editing mistake. We took immediate steps to remove it from all platforms and shows.” Critics aren’t buying the mea culpa.
According to head of the New York Press Club, "New York hospitals are nowhere near the levels of Italy's and for them to run this implying that we are... is irresponsible at best and may even be criminal"!
