5 year old saves his family

A Georgia boy is being recognized for saving his family from a house fire. When five-year-old Noah Woods woke up in the middle of the night to smoke and flames in his bedroom, he didn’t panic, but saved his family from the fire. First, he grabbed his two-year-old sister and escaped with her through an open window, and then he went back to pull his dog to safety.

Then Noah ran next door to get his uncle and together, they got the rest of the family members out. The Bartow County Fire Department credits him for saving seven members of his family from the blaze. They’re recognizing his bravery by making him an honorary firefighter and presenting him with a lifesaving award.

“We’ve seen children alert their families before,” Bartow County Fire Department Chief Dwayne Jamison says. “But for a five-year-old to be alert enough to do this … that’s pretty extraordinary.”

Noah's grandfather says “We praise God that we all are safe. Unfortunately, our home was a total loss. Due to a recent lapse in our home insurance, this has made a difficult situation a little worse. We are planning to rebuild and will likely need to stay in a motel for some time and likely rent a small house while we work to earn funding and build.”
