How Does SC Compare To Other States In Divorce Rates?

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control reveals the divorce rates by states.

The list is based on divorces per 1,000 total population.

Topping the list is Nevada, with a 4.4 divorce rate, but that could be because, thanks to Las Vegas, it’s historically been one of the best places for not only a quickie marriage, but a quickie divorce.

Nine States With The Highest Divorce Rates

  • Nevada (4.4)
  • Arkansas (4.1)
  • Idaho (3.8)
  • Oklahoma (3.8)
  • Utah (3.8)
  • Wyoming (3.8)
  • Alabama (3.7)
  • Alaska (3.7)
  • Florida (3.6)

The states at the bottom of the list (AKA where people are less likely to divorce) are;

  • IL (1.5)
  • LA (1.7)
  • MA (2.1)
  • IA (2.2)
  • KS (2.3)
  • MD (2.4)
  • SC (2.5)

Congratulations South Carolina on staying together! We're actually tied with GA. However divorce is a lot higher in NC at 3.1 and TN at 3.5
