ABC News Anchor Hot Mic Mishap

Amy Robach was recorded on a hot mic venting to colleagues that ABC executives refused to air an interview she did with Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

An organization called Project Veritas got a hold of that tape and have posted it on line as proof that ABC was squashing stories that would be detrimental to Epstein and his powerful friends like attorney Alan Dershowitz, the founder of Victoria's Secret Leslie Wexner, and the British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell.

Giuffre testified that when she was a teen Epstein used her as a sex slave and trafficked her to his powerful men, including Britain's Prince Andrew. There have also been reports that Bill Clinton was involved, which Robach mentions in her rant.

It was unbelievable what we had. Clinton — we had everything,” she notes in the clip. “I tried for three years to get it on to no avail, and now it’s all coming out, and it’s like these new revelations, and I freaking had all of it.

  • As ABC News sees it, she didn’t and they’ve released a statement, saying at the time "not all the reporting met our standards to air, but we never stopped investigating the story."
  • Robach has attempted to walk back the comments made in the video as well. “As a journalist, as the Epstein story continued to unfold last summer, I was caught in a private moment of frustration,” Robach says in a statement. “I was upset that an important interview I had conducted with Virginia Roberts [Giuffre] didn’t air because we could not obtain sufficient corroborating evidence to meet ABC’s editorial standards about her allegations.” That would seem to contradict her statement on the video "We were so afraid we wouldn't be able to interview Kate and Will, so I think that had also quashed the story".
