Mom suffers 13 miscarriages but has healthy girl on final try

The road to parenthood is different for every family, but for Laura Worsley and her husband Dave, it was difficult and traumatic. The couple from England endured 13 miscarriages before finally having their miracle baby, their daughter Ivy.

Laura was diagnosed with several medical conditions that resulted in recurring pregnancy loss, but she was determined to become a mother and kept trying. “It was all I lived for – I lost years of my life. I just thought, if I can’t have a baby I don’t see a point in my life,” she told BBC News. Laura heard about Professor Siobhan Quenby, who had helped several women with Laura's condition successfully conceive and deliver with a unique combination of steroids and medication. “I thought if there’s that one bit of hope, I had to try again. I spoke to Dave about it and he felt the same. I told myself, ‘this is the last time I’m doing this.'”On her 14th try, she got pregnant and gave birth to baby Ivy at 30 weeks. The tiny infant only weighed 1.7-pounds when she was born, but she’s a thriving baby girl now.

“It’s so important to be able to make a difference for anyone else going through what I went through,” Laura explains. “Through my story I want to give others the hope and strength to carry on even when things seem impossible.”
