"Like Out Of The Movies" Man Saves Another From Car As It Explodes

Around 3:30am this past Sunday, Travis DuPont was headed home from work in Seminole, Florida, when he spotted a flash ahead on the road. As he got closer, he could see that an SUV had crashed into the side of a building that houses a thrift store, so he pulled over to try and help. “I ran right to the driver’s window, saw this man unconscious,” DuPont recalls, “I reached in, shook him, started yelling at him.”

The crash woke local resident Stephanie Turow and she rushed to see what had happened. She started filming DuPont as he tried to alert the driver to the flames coming from the vehicle. Worried about the growing fire, DuPont reached through the driver’s window and pulled the man out, carrying him away from danger. “He picked him up like a baby and like just scooped him up, and ran all the way over with him,” Turow recalls, “He was absolutely amazing.”

Seconds after DuPont and the driver were away from the vehicle, it erupted into flames and exploded. “If I would have been like even 30 seconds too late, he would’ve been in those flames,” the good Samaritan says. Moments later, police arrived and the 28-year-old driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where he’s expected to recover. Officers praised DuPont for his heroic actions. “The officer said I did a good job, it was fist bumps all around,” recalls DuPont, “I feel good about that, getting the compliments from the big guys.”
